Vetrans Second Amendment Protection Act

On September 9th the US House Vetrans Affairs Committee passed a new amendment to H.R. 2349 which protects Vetrans from being denied firearms due to “mental health decisions.” Previously, when a Vetran had a fiduciary appointed to handle his or her vetran’s benefits, that person was considered by the government to have been “adjudicated as a mental defective” and thus unable to posses a firearm.

The old system striped Vetrans from their rights as US citizens without doing any real fact finding to see if that person would be a danger to themselves or to others. This is a good step forward to secure the rights of those who have fought for our country in order to guarantee the very rights that they themselves have been denied up until now.
