Utah Definition of Firearm Amended to Clarify “Sawed Off”

If you are a stickler for verbage than you might have been following recently passed House Bill 117. House bill was signed on March 16th by the Governor. It simply changes the word “sawed-off” to “short barrel” in 76-10-501 and 76-10-504.

Here is the exact change in context:

“Firearm” means a pistol, revolver, shotgun, short barrel [previously sawed-off] shotgun,
101 rifle or short barrel [previously sawed-off] rifle, or a device that could be used as a dangerous weapon 102 from which is expelled a projectile by action of an explosive.
